Wholesaler Sugro introduces free Scope 1 and 2 reporting for wholesale members with My Emissions

Sugro UK is a leading buying and marketing group with more than 80 independent wholesale members across the UK. Together, they represent in excess of £2.5bn annual turnover and play a crucial role in supplying retailers, convenience stores, and hospitality businesses.

As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Sugro wanted to support members in measuring and reducing their environmental impact. By partnering with My Emissions, Sugro has launched a carbon reporting programme that gives every member free access to Scope 1 and 2 reporting. This ensures their members stay ahead of regulation and customer demands.

The Challenge: increasing pressure to report emissions

Like most UK wholesalers, Sugro’s members are increasingly expected to provide robust carbon data:

  • Regulation is tightening: SECR, CSRD, and other frameworks making carbon reporting mandatory for many food businesses.
  • Customers are asking for data: retailers, foodservice operators, and manufacturers increasingly require credible emissions information in tenders.

Whilst pressure is growing, emissions reporting is still new for most wholesalers, with no dedicated person responsible for sustainability. Most independent wholesalers lack the tools, time, or expertise to produce compliant carbon reports.

Sugro wanted to give its members a simple, standardised solution that would both improve their competitive position and future-proof them against reporting requirements.

The Solution: offering Scope 1 & 2 reporting for free via My Emissions

Sugro has partnered with My Emissions to roll out a group-wide reporting programme.

Through the partnership all 80+ members get free Scope 1 & 2 reports. They can report unlimited years and every report is aligned to the GHG Protocol, the globally recognised carbon accounting standard.

Members can then choose to add Scope 3 reporting, available at a discounted rate. This will allow them to complete their reporting, including emissions from their supply chain.

Sugro will also have a central group dashboard, allowing them to view aggregated data across its membership, giving visibility of sector-wide impact.

Emma Senior, MD of Sugro UK, explained:

We know that in years to come businesses will have to report on their carbon footprint, from both government legislation and requirements from suppliers. This system is automated, quick, and credible – helping our members strengthen their position in the market.

Results & Impact

With 80+ wholesalers now having access to My Emissions’ reporting platform, this partnership represents one of the largest and most ambitious projects to report wholesale emissions in the UK.

In addition to the industry impact, Sugro hopes this can deliver clear and tangible commercial benefits to its members. This includes:

  • Tender advantage: members can provide credible data in tenders, giving them a competitive edge.
  • Future readiness: Sugro is proactively positioning its members to comply with upcoming regulation and customer requirements.
  • Collective insight: the group dashboard gives Sugro HQ a clear picture of its total impact, helping to shape its long-term sustainability strategy.

Matthew Isaacs, Co-Founder of My Emissions, added:

By simplifying access to Scope 1 and 2 reporting, we’re helping wholesalers take meaningful steps toward environmental accountability. Sugro is setting an important precedent for the wholesale sector.
